2020 Hurricane Season Could Be One Of Most Active Ever, Forecasters Say In New Outlook The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is racking up storms at record speed. Hurricane turned Tropical Storm Isaias (pronounced "ees-ah-EE-ahs") became the earliest storm to begin with an "I" on record. The previous record was set on Aug. 7, 2005. The first hurricane of the 2020 season, Hannah, became the earliest storm with an "H" name by nearly two weeks. Tracking Hurricane Isaias: Region Remains In Latest Projected Path This region, and much of the Northeast, remains within the projected path of the second named hurricane of the season. The latest forecast track for Category 1 storm Isaias, including its "cone of uncertainty," was released Saturday morning, Aug. 1 by the National Hurricane Center. Isaias Becomes Hurricane: Here's Latest Projected Path Isaias has become a hurricane ahead of schedule with a new projected path that takes the Category 1 storm up the East Coast. The second named hurricane of the season, the storm is expected to move through the Bahamas on Friday, July 31 before moving close to Florida's east coast then heading up the Northeast.
