A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is now in effect for much of the region.
It lasts until 10 p.m. Wednesday, June 30, and covers Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan, Greene, Columbia counties in New York, Fairfield, Hartford, Litchfield, New Haven, Tolland, New London, and Middlesex counties in Connecticut, and all of Massachusetts except Cape Cod, and northeast Pennsylvania. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has now been issued for much of the region.
It lasts until 10 p.m. Wednesday, May 26, and covers New York City, Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange, Ulster, Sullivan in New York, and Fairfield and Litchfield counties in Connecticut.

A co-owner of Frank Pepe's, ranked No. 1 on Daily Meal's list of the 101 best pizzerias in America each of the last three years, has died.
Gary Bimonte died on Wednesday, April 7.
Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana, which has 12 locations in the Northeast (in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New York, and Rhode Island), announced his death on the Facebook page of its flagship New Haven location and said the New Haven location would be closed Thursday, April 8.
Neither the circumstances surrounding his death nor his age have been immediately released.

Shipt To Add Hundreds Of Workers In Westchester, Fairfield Counties This Holiday Season
Shipt, a personal shopping company available to 80 percent of households in over 5,000 U.S. cities, is hiring 50,000 personal shoppers to its ranks this holiday season, including positions in Westchester and Fairfield counties, bringing their personal shopper fleet to over 150,000 shoppers.
The company is looking for shoppers across the country.
Those who are hired over the next few days, the company said, will be eligible for a holiday cash bonus in their pay between Nov. 25 and 30, along with incentives unique to their region.

Longtime Chappaqua Resident Dolores Ryan, 82, Of Somers, Was Always The First One To Volunteer
Dolores A. Ryan, 82, died at home in Somers on Oct. 7.
Born in Manhattan, Dolores was a 64-year resident of Chappaqua and Ocean Park, ME, where she spent her summers at the beach among family and friends. She was a graduate of Horace Greeley High School and Endicott College.
After college Dolores was proud to have worked as a buyer and merchandiser for Lord & Taylor in Manhattan, eventually trading that career to raise her family.
She is predeceased by her parents, Dolores M. and S. James Barbuto of Chappaqua, her Husband, Donald C. Ryan also of Chappaqua and her daughter …

Lawrence Littig, 81, Formerly Of Chappaqua, Was An Active Church Member, Community Volunteer
After a multiyear battle with dementia and short-term illness with COVID-19, Lawrence (Larry) W. Littig, 81, died in Norwalk on May 3.
Born July 18, 1938 in Kalamazoo, MI to John and Dorothy Littig, Larry was a competitive youth tennis player coached by the legendary Vic Braden. After graduating State High School in Kalamazoo, Larry attended the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, graduating with a BBA.
He met his future wife at Michigan, the former Ann Strickland of Saginaw, MI, with whom he had three children, John, Rip and Lisa. After serving in the U.S. Army, a long career …
