Thanks to quick action from first responders, a man was rescued from a watery tunnel underneath a Westchester train station just before the incoming tide came in. Authorities are conducting an investigation after a Westchester homeowner found a suspicious object in their yard, police said. The object was found on Tuesday evening, Aug. 15, when a Yonkers homeowner on Abner Place reported a suspicious item in their yard to the city's police department, according to Detective Sergeant Frank M. A man who allegedly threatened an employee at a business in Westchester died following a standoff in which he fired shots at officers, authorities announced. A woman was rescued by a police officer who jumped into frigid waters after her vehicle drove into a Westchester lake. The incident began around 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, when Westchester County Police received a 911 call reporting a vehicle had driven into Woodlands Lake at V.E. New update: The body of a man who went missing on Long Island has been recovered. The body of Dennis Jones, 40, of Freeport was pulled from the Milburn Pond on the Baldwin/Freeport border on Saturday, Dec. 28, Nassau County Police said. Police have launched an investigation after the discovery of a suspicious duffel bag outside a bank that had human remains inside. Kitten Stranded In Sewer Pulled To Safety After Good Samaritan Calls Police
A kitten's cry for help was heard by a Good Samaritan, and two police officers took over from there. Police were able to rescue the kitten stranded in a sewer early Saturday morning in Westchester. At approximately 8:30 a.m., the Good Samaritan was walking her dog and came upon the kitten in the area of 276 Riverdale Ave. in Yonkers. Members of the 3rd Precinct and Emergency Service Unit responded. ESU Officers Jamie Molina and Anthony Alaimo brought the kitten to safety. One Dangerous Coyote At Large, Another Killed In Southern Westchester
While one coyote has been dealt with in Yonkers after attacking several people and killing a small dog in Greenburgh, police are warning about a second that they are tracking down who could be a danger in the area.
