Snowfall Possible As Quick-Moving Storm Sweeps Through Region, Temperatures Plummet
A quick-moving storm system coupled with the arrival of sharply colder temperatures could bring a round of snowfall to much of the region. The timeframe for potential snowfall is overnight through around noon on Monday, Jan. 3. "It may be hard to believe that any snow is on the way, given the warmth and lack of wintry weather thus far this season," AccuWeather Meteorologist Ryan Adamson said. Separate Rounds Of Snowfall Will Be Followed By Potentially More Significant Storm
The start of December is just a day away, but it felt like it came much earlier with persistent cold and scattered snowfall at times in much of the region. There will be more chances of light snow the next few days as the below-average temps linger. (See the first two images above.) First Snowfall Projections, Timing Released For Big Storm Taking Aim On Region
The first snowfall projections and timing for a potentially major winter storm have been released as the coldest temperatures of the season grip the region. The storm moving west to east is expected to develop late Sunday, Jan. 31, and linger into Tuesday, Feb. 2, with most of the region expected to see between 4 and 8 inches of snowfall, with the potential for 6 to 12 inches.
