Charter Spectrum, NY Close To Deal That Would Let It Stay In State
The New York Public Service Commission is extending settlement talks with Charter Communications as the two sides potentially near a deal to keep the company in the state. Last July, the PSC issued an order kicking Charter out of New York, alleging that the company didn’t meet requirements to extends its network to underserved areas in the state. The order has led to a lengthy battle between the two sides. This week, Charter Spectrum was granted a 30-day reprieve to seek a rehearing of last summer’s order. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo lashed out at a reporter who brought up an ongoing federal investigation into a Hudson Valley healthcare company that received millions in grants after donating hundreds of thousands of dollars to his campaign.
