Blaze Destroys Car On Busy Parkway In Northern Westchester A car became completely engulfed in flames on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester.  The incident happened on Sunday, March 3 at around 10:15 a.m., when a car fire began on the northbound Saw Mill River Parkway in Hawthorne, according to the Hawthorne Fire Department. Arriving crews found the car overtaken by flames but were quickly able to extinguish them. A tow truck then eventually removed the charred wreckage.  The response to the fire took around an hour. No injuries were reported.

Car Goes Up In Flames On Busy Road Near Lake In Hudson Valley A car fire in the Hudson Valley left a busy main road filled with smoke, firefighters said. The incident happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Feb. 7 around 11 a.m., when a vehicle caught on fire on Route 301 near Canopus Lake in the town of Kent, according to the Cold Spring Fire Company No. 1, which helped respond to the blaze.  Arriving fire crews found that the vehicle's occupants had been able to escape unharmed and began extinguishing the blaze.  The fire was fully put out by noon, firefighters said. The cause of the blaze was not released.

Cars Go Up In Flames At School In Northern Westchester A raging blaze involving two cars sent firefighters on an early morning trip to a school in Northern Westchester.  The fire happened on Sunday, July 9 around 1:30 a.m., when members of the Valhalla Fire Department were sent to the EF Academy in Thornwood, where a vehicle had gone up in flames in the parking lot.  While on their way to the school, firefighters then learned that the blaze had spread to a second car.  Once they arrived at the scene, crews were able to quickly extinguish the flames and remove the vehicles from the area, the department reported.

Car Catches Fire On Busy Road In Westchester County A fire department in Westchester County was tasked with putting out a car fire on a busy road.  The blaze started on Sunday, Nov. 13, around 1:30 p.m. in Purchase on Westchester Ave in the area of the Butcher Bridge, where first responders found a late model 4-series Mercedes on fire in the parking lot of 565 Westchester Ave., according to the Purchase Fire Department.  The fire was eventually put out by 2:30 p.m. with the help of two of the department's fire trucks, fire officials said.  The cause of the fire was not reported by the fire department.
