In a groundbreaking trial, a court-certified support dog named Eddie helped a young child testify against former NYPD detective Wilson Frias, leading to his conviction on charges of child sexual abuse in Westchester County. Car Catches On Fire On Taconic Parkway In Northern Westchester
An early morning vehicle blaze sent up plenty of smoke on a busy parkway in Northern Westchester. The fire began on Tuesday, Nov. 12 around 6 a.m. on the southbound Taconic State Parkway in Briarcliff Manor, where a vehicle went up in flames, according to the Hawthorne Fire Department, which helped fight the blaze. Arriving firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the fire in the parkway's right shoulder. No injuries were reported.

Litter Of Days-Old Kittens Found Abandoned In Milk Crate In Westchester
A litter of kittens has a new surrogate mom after being found abandoned in a milk carton crate in Westchester. The kittens, all only a few days old, were discovered in a milk crate by Briarcliff Manor-based SPCA Westchester on Monday evening, May 6. Luckily, the organization was able to keep the kittens alive and worked to bottle-feed them every few hours after their rescue to keep them healthy. Burt Erickson, 100 years young, formerly of Briarcliff Manor and Chicago, IL, passed away peacefully on Oct. 23, 2023 at the Veteran’s Association Nursing Home in Montrose, where he received wonderful care. Burt was born on March 8, 1923 in Chicago, the son of Frances and Burton Erickson. He was the oldest of three children. He was predeceased in death by his sister Gertrude “Trudie” Hodges and his brother Jerome “Jerry” Erickson. Burt married the love of his life Rita Marie Jerome on Dec. 27, 1952.
