Update - Missing Westport Boaters: Body Of 1 Man Located, 1 Remains Missing The body of a 38-year-old Hudson Valley man who went missing after the small fishing boat he was in sank in the waters of the Long Island Sound off the coast of Fairfield County has been found. The incident began in Westport about 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22 when a boater traveling in the area of Cockenoe Island found a man standing on a navigational buoy, Lt. On The Rocks: Vessel Becomes Stuck Off Coast Of Westchester A vessel found itself between a rock and a hard place after becoming stuck in Long Island Sound off the Westchester coast.  The incident happened on Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 30, when a vessel became stuck on the Scotch Caps reef off the coast of Rye, according to Rye Police. Luckily, the vessel's operator was uninjured. With the help of the Westchester County and Mamaroneck Police Departments, the boat was eventually freed. One person is dead and several others are hospitalized after a tourist boat capsized in a New York cave. Emergency crews along the Erie Canal were called at around 11:20 a.m. Monday, June 12, with reports that a vessel had capsized at the Lockport Cave, located in Lockport in Niagara County. The historic site is located approximately 30 miles northeast of Buffalo.
