Bill Adding Fencing To Hudson Valley Bridges To Prevent People From Deadly Jumps Moves Forward
A bill aimed at stopping suicides by adding preventive fencing to five Hudson Valley bridges has passed the New York State Senate unanimously. Now, the bill introduced by State Sen. Pete Harckham (D, Mount Kisco), will move to the State Assembly, whose session ends on Friday, June 7, for consideration. Body Recovered After Person Jumps From Bear Mountain Bridge
A body was recovered after a person jumped from the Bear Mountain Bridge. The incident happened around 1 p.m. Friday, May 17. The body of the victim was recovered from the Hudson River near Stony Point, according to Trooper A.J. Hicks of the New York State Police. The identity of the person has not yet been released. 49-Year-Old Dies After Jumping From Bear Mountain Bridge

The incident took place in Rockland County around 7:50 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 11 in Stony Point, said Trooper Steven Nevel of the New York State Police. An investigation revealed that the Englewood, New Jersey man drove to the bridge and walked up the south side where he jumped, Nevel said. Man Jumps From Bear Mountain Bridge
The body of a man who jumped from the Bear Mountain Bridge has not been recovered. The incident occurred around 6:40 a.m., Friday, Nov. 24 closest to the Rockland County side. According to Trooper AJ Hicks of the New York State Police, the man left his vehicle and walked up the bridge and jumped. Westchester County Marine Patrol responded along with the State Police Marine Unit to search for the victim. Hicks said the man's body has not been recovered as of Monday, Nov. 27. Man Jumps To Death From Bear Mountain Bridge
A 48-year-old man jumped to his death from a Hudson Valley bridge. The incident took place on Friday, Nov. 10 at the Bear Mountain Bridge near in the town of Cortlandt in Northern Westchester County. According to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, New Jersey resident Aleksey P. Mikhaylov, of Northvale, was located and pronounced dead at the scene. A man who jumped to his death from Bear Mountain Bridge has been identified by state police. The incident took place in Northern Westchester County in Cortlandt around 2:15 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 12. Man, 23, Jumps To His Death From Bear Mountain Bridge, State Police Say
A Hudson Valley man who jumped to his death from the Bear Moutain Bridge has been identified by New York State Police. Orange County resident, Justin J. Griffith, age 23, of Highland Falls, died around 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 22 after jumping from the bridge near Cortlandt, said Trooper AJ Hicks. His vehicle was found near the bridge, Hicks said. A search on Friday failed to find his body. His body was recovered by the New York State Police Underwater Recovery Team on Saturday, Oct. 23. No signs of foul play have been discovered.

A man drove to Bear Mountain Bridge and died by suicide after leaping off the structure's edge, said State Police, leaving his vehicle parked on the structure facing west with its hazard lights flashing. According to police, the body of the unidentified person was discovered floating in the Hudson River at approximately 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 14 by an officer investigating the unoccupied vehicle.
