Murder Trial Starts In Killing Of 16-year-Old Westchester Girl
The murder trial for a man who allegedly struck killed a teenage girl with his car in Westchester after an argument with her and her boyfriend kicked off this week. Joel Thompson, 24, of Yonkers, was in court on Wednesday, Dec. 11, to stand trial for the murder of 16-year-old Madysen Denman in December 2017. He’s charged with second-degree murder, and attempted second-degree murder. If convicted, Thompson will face a sentence of between 25 years and life in prison. A gang member in Westchester will spend nearly a decade behind bars for shooting a man last year. Douglas “D-Loc” Smith, a member of the 150 Clan gang that operates in the area of Elm Street in Yonkers, has been sentenced to a term of eight and a half years in prison. Charges have been upgraded against a 23-year-old Yonkers man who allegedly struck and killed a 16-year-old girl with his car, killing her following an argument on Nepperhan Avenue. Joel Thompson has been indicted by a grand jury on charges that include second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder, both felonies.
