Flight From NY Makes Emergency Landing After Passenger Assaults Flight Attendant An American Airlines flight from New York was diverted after a passenger allegedly assaulted a flight attendant. Flight 976 had departed New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 27, and was headed to John Wayne Airport in Orange County, California, but was diverted to Denver because of the incident, the airline said in a statement.
