Bedford Board Of Ed Calls For Committee Volunteers

BEDFORD, N.Y.– The Bedford Central School District is once again looking for members to serve on the district’s citizen advisory committees, which provide community input for the Board of Education.

Community members who want to volunteer and have interest, experience or expertise in a particular area, should consider applying.

Committees seeking members include the Board Advisory Committee, which focuses on the development of the district's annual budget; and the Capital Projects Committee, which assesses completed capital projects with the intent of developing a plan for the coming years.

Other committees include the Key Communicators, whose goal it is to serve as liaisons with the community; the District Health Council, which focuses on implementing wellness goals; the Sustainability Committee, which looks at energy efficiency and waste reduction; and the Curriculum Council.

There are also two new committees looking for members: the Facility Advisory Committee, which will provide input on the current conceptual plans for West Patent Elementary School, Fox Lane Middle School and other projects; and the Capital Plan Advisory Committee, which offers advice on the capital plan in terms of conceptual issues and financial options, and furthers community engagement by soliciting input from students, staff and other committees.

Appointments will be made by the board and administration in consideration of representing all elementary school attendance areas and schools and representing both parents and community members. The Board of Education will approve the appointments to these committees in September.

The board said it has designed the application to make the process as uncomplicated as possible. Current committee members should let their committee chairperson know if they wish to continue to serve.
