A resident of Gregory Avenue called 911 to report a burglary in progress on Friday, June 23, telling dispatchers that someone was trying to break into his apartment through a rear window.
Officers rushed to the scene and did indeed find a man at the rear window; it was the building superintendent putting in a new screen.
Two days earlier, on Wednesday, June 21, a resident of Willets Road called late at night to report that someone was repeatedly ringing his doorbell and running away.
Officers checked the property and nearby yards for the mischief-makers to no avail. As they were speaking with the resident on his front porch, the doorbell began ringing by itself. An electrical malfunction, not pranksters, was the cause.
