Westchester County Police officials are going all-in this year for National Night out, participating in multiple events in the area.

Each year, thousands of communities throughout the country celebrate National Night Out, which is designed to “strengthen police-community partnerships and generating further awareness about the safety in our communities. This year, those events will kick off on Tuesday, Aug. 7.

During the National Night Out events, there will be “feature family-friendly activities, entertainment, demonstrations and presentations designed to connect with and inform the community about crime prevention and safety. National Night Out will also provide opportunities for all community members to get to know their law enforcement officers.”

This year, Westchester County Police will host an event in Mount Kisco, and will participate in events planned in New Rochelle and Yonkers.

In Mount Kisco, County Police will have the Mobile Command Post available, Operation Safe Child ID Card Station, a K-9 demonstration, a display of emergency service vehicles, as well as a motorcycle and police bicycle display.

The Aviation Unit will be busy, landing one of its two helicopters at two events organized by the Yonkers Police Department. The first landing is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at Sullivan Oval Park and the second is planned for 6:30 at Andrus Park. They will then conduct a flyover at the New Rochelle Police Department at approximately 8 p.m.
