Mt Kisco Drivers Look for Alternative to Gas

Gas prices in New York are amongst the highest in the country and despite decreasing slightly over the past few weeks, many people in Mt Kisco still feel trapped.

For Andrei Achim of Mt Kisco, driving is a necessity because he needs to be able to get back and forth from work and around town. Without his car he would not be able to make a living and survive. "I have no choice," he said.

The slightly lower prices have not impressed Achim. "They're not going to keep getting lower if we continue doing what we are doing," he said.

Achim thinks that the only way to solve the high gas prices is to get rid of our use of gas completely. Alternative energy sources such as solar wind and electric cars are options.

He drives a truck and is willing to consider buying an electric car next but doesn't think that that alone would be a final solution. "I would buy an electric car, but then you have to worry about finding an outlet and paying for electricity; that's not the best option yet," he said.

For now he will stick with gas, but like many others, he is working hard to reduce the amount of trips that he has to make and drive only when he has to.
