Former Mayor Named Mt. Kisco Woman of Distinction

BREWSTER, N.Y. — Former Mount Kisco Mayor Patricia Reilly was among more than 30 local women honored Friday by Sen. Greg Ball (R-C-Patterson) for community service, as part of the senator’s inaugural Women of Distinction Hall of Fame ceremony.

“The women who are here today were nominated by their communities, handpicked because they chose a path of leadership, living a life of service before self,” Ball said at the event. “Each one of these women here today is so well-deserving of this honor because they have built a reputation of action, compassion and integrity, a path that that stands as an example to all.”

Reilly served as mayor of Mount Kisco from 1999 to 2003 and before that was a village trustee for five years. She currently serves as co-chairperson of the Mount Kisco Beautification Committee and chairperson of the Empire Girls State Unit with the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 136, where she also has served as president. Reilly is a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Club of Northern Westchester and a member of the Board for the Woodcrest at Leonard Park Home Owners Association.

In addition, Reilly volunteers for the Mount Kisco Historical Society and the Northern Westchester Hospital President’s Council. In 1991, she earned the Mount Kisco Chamber of Commerce’s Citizen of the Year Award and, in 1998, she was inducted into the Westchester County Senior Citizens Hall of Fame. In 2008, Reilly was aide to the grand marshal at the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade.

Mayor Michael Cindrich was there to support Reilly at the ceremony, which was held at the Putnam County Emergency Services Center.

The leadership of each city, town and village within the Balls’s 40th District was asked to nominate a woman for commendation.

Keynote speakers at the event included former Congresswoman Sue Kelly, New York State Senate 2008 Woman of Distinction Honoree, and Putnam County Executive Mary Ellen Odell, who was chosen as the 2011 state honoree.

Kelly praised the exceptional volunteer work of the honorees. “There isn’t anyone being honored here tonight that hasn’t expanded our sense of community,” she said. “Because of all the volunteer work they’ve done, every community that is represented here today is indebted to these women.”
