On Thursday, Nov. 21, Dr. Akira Todo, Director of the Stroke Program & Neurology Hospitalist at NWH, will join fellow physicians:Dr. James Dwyer, Chief of Emergency Medicine & Medical Director of the Emergency Department at NWH along with Dr. Michael Stiefel Neurosurgeon & Director of Endovascular Institute at Westchester Medical Center, Dr. Jon Berkowitz, Emergency Medicine at Westchester Medical Center, and Dr. Omar Syed, Neurosurgeon with Mount Kisco Medical Group as a presenter.
With a stroke, time lost is brain lost. During the symposium, practitioners of emergency medicine will learn about rapid stroke assessment and advances in care.
Attendees will include members of voluntary ambulance corps, emergency medical services, emergency departments and first responders.
Northern Westchester Hospital is designated as a Stroke Center by the New York State Health Department, and has received the Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Quality Achievement Award (GWTG–Stroke) by the American Stroke Association.
NWH is also recognized as a recipient of the Target: Stroke Honor Roll by the American Heart Association for improving stroke care.
