MT. KISCO, N.Y. -- Westmoreland Sanctuary Nature Center and Wildlife Preserve will hold its Annual Fall Fund Raiser, "Wine in the Woods" on Friday, November 18 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

This celebration of Nature will take place at Westmoreland’s historic 200-year old church that serves as its Nature Museum, located at 260 Chestnut Ridge Road in Mt. Kisco. All proceeds help support Westmoreland Sanctuary’s mission to secure and preserve land for the enjoyment and enrichment of all through environmental education and conservation programs.

A variety of wine, refreshments and a healthy assortment of hors d’oeuvres will be served at Wine in the Woods, where the setting will be transformed by naturally derived décor to complement the Nature Museum’s permanent exhibits of native flora and fauna. Restoring and preserving Westchester’s native trees and plants are at the core of Westmoreland Sanctuary’s conservation efforts as these restoration projects are used in their teachings to nearly 10,000 school children, high school volunteers and college interns every year.

“This is our annual celebration bringing together community residents and concerned corporate citizens alike to raise a glass in appreciation of all that nature has to offer us," said Ann Paul, Director at Westmoreland Sanctuary "It’s our civic responsibility to pay it forward through an educational forum that is both enriching and enjoyable."

"It’s that knowledge combined with passion, especially acquired at an early age, that creates our Environmental Stewards of tomorrow,” said Paul.

As a public charity, Westmoreland receives no government subsidy to help maintain their 640 acres of land, ongoing educational programs or facilities. "That’s why events such as Wine in the Woods are so important in providing the necessary funding to build a brighter environmental future for our families and children to enjoy and appreciate,” said Paul.
