MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. --  Joel Seligman, President & CEO of Northern Westchester Hospital has announced the hospital has earned its fourth consecutive “A” grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, a national patient safety watchdog, and is the only hospital in Westchester County to receive an “A” grade.

The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades assign A, B, C, D and F letter grades to hospitals nationwide of patient safety in the United States. NWH is among 884 hospitals to receive an “A” grade, ranking among the safest hospitals in the United States, adding to its list of accreditations and awards.

Developed under the guidance of an Expert Panel, the Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade uses 30 measures of publicly available hospital safety data to assign A, B, C, D and F grades to more than 2,600 U.S. hospitals twice per year. It is calculated by top patient safety experts, peer-reviewed, fully transparent, and free to the public.

“Northern Westchester Hospital is committed to providing patients the highest quality and safest care possible. I commend our entire staff, who are empowered to ensure our patients are safe when they are in our care,” said Dr. Marla Koroly Chief Medical Officer and Senior Vice President, Medical Affairs, at Northern Westchester Hospital. “We are proud of our approach to patient-centered care, caring for the whole patient, which enables us to continuously improve on all aspects of patient safety.”

“Protecting patients from harm is the most important charge for any hospital,” said Leah Binder, president and CEO of The Leapfrog Group. “We recognize and appreciate ‘A’ hospitals’ vigilance and continued dedication to keeping their patients safe.”
