"Life is a Cabernet" was originally set for Saturday, Feb. 9, but the owners of Vine & Co. announced Thursday that the event has been rescheduled for Feb. 23 due to the snowstorm expected this weekend.
From 2 to 6 p.m., guests are invited to stop at the wine and spirits store at the Bedford Green on 117 shopping center for a tasting of more than 20 cabernets from wine-growing regions around the world, to be accompanied by a Broadway cabaret performance.
The shop at 741 Bedford Road, formerly known as Westchester Wines & Spirits, reopened in October under new owner Ashley Diamond, a Katonah resident, and Meg Burdick of Yorktown.
Diamond and her husband, Jim, owner of Diamond Properties, teamed up to refurbish the store. The Diamond development company has owned the Bedford Green plaza since 2008 and has since leased out almost all available retail space on the property.
The shop's new tenants updated the space with modern decor and a new backroom tasting area complete with a weekly schedule of wine and spirits tastings. Most recently, the store hosted Tito's Handmade Vodka on Feb. 2 and wines from New York City importer Avivo Vino on Jan. 26.
On Feb. 23, a robust roster of cabernets with big names like Caymus, Robert Craig, Heitz, Silver Oak and Cakebread will be sampled at the store, which sells both imported and domestic wines (some organic) and a selection of fine spirits.
Broadway veteran Katie Tomlinson, who specializes in writing and performing personalized cabaret, will provide the afternoon’s entertainment.
Tomlinson is currently touring the country with the smash musical "Jersey Boys" and has appeared in "The Wedding Banquet" international tour, the world premiere of the musical "Razzletown," "Side by Side" by Stephen Sondheim, "Songs of Judy and Liza" at Cabaret de Paris and a host of other productions.
"Life Is a Cabernet" is “BYOG,” or "Bring Your Own Glass." Guests can also purchase a reusable glass at the event for $5.
Vine & Co. is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. Call 914-666-7272 for more information about Saturday's event.
