Developmental Pediatrician Bertin Talks ADHD, Kids At NWH Speaker Series

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- Dr. Mark Bertin, a board-certified developmental pediatrician, will be presenting at Northern Westchester Hospital's speaker series, "Kids, ADHD, ADD and Medications" on Wednesday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Bertin studied at Cornell University and the UCLA School of Medicine before completing general pediatric training at Oakland Children’s Hospital in California. After several years in general pediatrics, he completed fellowship in neurodevelopmental behavioral pediatrics at the Children’s Evaluation and Rehabilitation Center (Rose Kennedy Center) at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. Bertin is an assistant professor of pediatrics at New York Medical College, a faculty member of the Windward Teacher Training Institute and from 2003 to 2010 was director of developmental behavioral pediatrics at the Westchester Institute for Human Development, in its foster care program.

He is a consultant for Reach Out and Read, a national organization promoting child development and literacy, and he is on the editorial advisory board for the non-profit organization Common Sense Media. Bertin is a frequent lecturer for parents, teachers and professionals on topics related to child development including autistic spectrum disorders, ADHD, parenting and mindfulness. He also leads mindfulness classes, having attended trainings at Jon Kabat Zinn’s Center for Mindfulness in Medicine among others, and he incorporates mindfulness into sessions on an individual basis for interested families.

Bertin wrote “The Family ADHD Solution” which integrates mindfulness into evidence-based ADHD care, and he is a contributing author for an upcoming textbook titled “Mindfulness with Youth: From the Classroom to the Clinic.” His next book, “Mindful Parenting for ADHD” will be released in 2015.
