Food Market, Wine Store Prepare For Mount Kisco Openings

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. -- A specialty food market and wine store are poised to open in Mount Kisco.

Siegel Bros. Marketplace will open at 39 S. Moger mid-November, while Siegel Bros. Wine & Spirits at 41 S. Moger Ave. is slated for a mid-December opening, the company announced.

Four generations

Siegel Bros. Marketplace is a fourth generation owned and operated specialty food market.  

Abram Siegel first opened a kosher butcher shop in Woodbine, N.J., after fleeing Russia in 1912, said the release.

Siegel’s Meats, Poultry and Livestock, a butcher shop, followed.

Today the family tradition thrives under Abram’s grandson, Bruce Nevins, and his great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Doug and Chef David Nevins.

The Nevins brothers were influenced by their father Bruce Nevins, a wine importer, marketer and retail giant who for 14 years was owner of Hay Day Wine Shop in Ridgefield, Conn.

Doug and Jeremy became passionate about wine and studied with winemakers and hospitality professionals, then operated family retailers, including Grand Harvest Wines in Grand Central Terminal in New York City, and Wine Wise in Greenwich.

The brothers partnered with Grand Central Market and Whole Foods, to promote food and wine, which ultimately became the foundation for Siegel Bros. Marketplace and Siegel Bros. Wine & Spirits.

Meanwhile brother David graduated from the Culinary Institute of America in 1997. He worked in Boston as a chef at Neptune Oyster. In 2008, he and his family opened Osetra Oyster Bar and Fish House in South Norwalk, Conn. And recently, David prepared his signature New England fare at the Grey Lady on Nantucket.

Adding to this family affair is an integral part of Siegel Bros. operations, seasoned hospitality industry professional Ed Costa. 

In addition to the family, hospitality professional Ed Costa and Don Myers whose worked 20 years in the meat and fish industries joins Siegel Bros. Marketplace.


Among merchandise are meat and poultry from humanely and sustainably raised animals that are grass and grain fed and raised without hormones or antibiotics, from local sources, according to the release. 

There will be an expansive cheese and charcuterie selection; sustainable raised farmed products and seasonal fresh wild caught fish. 

A food preparation section will provide a seasonal and revolving selection of land and sea, vegetarian and gluten-free, comforting and healthful dishes available daily.


Siegel Bros. Wine & Spirits will sell varietals from recognizable wine producers from around the world; and have a focus on  smaller, private and family-owned vineyards, which specialize in low production, the release said.
