Pathologists: Ex-Westchester Resident Found Murdered Suffered Slow Death
Forensic pathologists who performed the autopsy on a former Northern Westchester resident found murdered in a cave said she suffered a slow death. In an interview with CBS News, pathologist Stamatis Belivanis said renowned scientist Suzanne Eaton, 59, a 1977 graduate of Byram Hills High School in Armonk, was suffocated to death and then left in a World War II-era cave-type bunker once used by the Nazis in Greece. Area Priest Reassigned By Pope Francis
A popular area priest is going back in the service. Father Bill Muhm, 61, who began his role as an administrator at the Church of the Most Precious Blood in Walden in Orange County late last year, has been given a new assignment by Pope Francis. Last month, Muhm was advised that the pope had chosen him to serve as an auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of the Military Services. An indicted Nazi war criminal -- the 68th and last one known to be living in the U.S. - has been deported from New York back to Germany. Palij, 95, was born in what was then-Poland and now Ukraine, and immigrated to the United States in 1949. The former Nazi guard apparently lied to U.S. immigration officials about his role in mass killings during World War II, saying he worked on a farm and in a factory, the White House said in a statement. Westchester Man Dies After Fall While Hiking
A 43-year-old man from Westchester died after losing his footing while hiking on a mountain in the state of Washington. James Rothwell, who grew up in Mount Pleasant and graduated from Westlake High School in 1992, was with two other hikers on Buck Mountain in Chelan County, when he fell about 50 feet on Saturday, Aug. 4, according to the Seattle Times.
