A 43-year-old Westchester man will spend more than 10 years in prison after authorities caught him in possession of a loaded unserialized ghost gun following a shots fired incident, officials announced. Mount Vernon resident Robert Culton was sentenced to 12 years in state prison for his illegal possession of a ghost gun, the Westchester County District Attorney's Office announced on Friday, Nov. 17. Daylight Shooting Leaves Vehicles Damaged In Mount Vernon: Suspects At Large, Police Say
Authorities are investigating a broad daylight shooting that left two vehicles damaged on a Westchester street. The incident happened on Wednesday, Oct. 18 in Mount Vernon, when police responded to East 3rd Street between South 2nd Avenue and South 3rd Avenue for a report of shots fired. According to Mount Vernon Director of Communications Timothy Allen, arriving officers found several 9mm shell casings and two damaged vehicles at the scene. There were no injuries from the incident. Numerous Burglary, Stolen Vehicle Suspects Caught In Mount Vernon In Span Of Week
Nearly a dozen vehicles that were either stolen or associated with other felonies were caught traveling throughout Westchester in the span of a week, police said. The vehicles and their associated suspects were all caught between Monday, Feb. 27, and Sunday, March 5, according to the Westchester County Police Department, which used its Real Time Crime intelligence center to coordinate responses from multiple law enforcement agencies in the county to catch the vehicles. A police sergeant in Westchester was injured attempting to apprehend a man with a firearm, officials announced. Detectives from the Mount Vernon Police Department’s Violent Crime Unit spotted a group of four people arguing on Monday, Nov. 15 in the area of South 8th Avenue and West 2nd Street. Hutchinson River Parkway Lane Closures Scheduled In Mount Vernon
Drivers can expect temporary delays on the Hutchinson River Parkway in Mount Vernon next month as contracting crews continue a bridge replacement project in the area. The New York State Department of Transportation issued an alert to motorists cautioning that beginning on 11 p.m. on Friday, March 2 through 5 a.m. on Monday, March 5, a portion of the Hutchinson River Parkway between Exit 6 (Interstate 95) and Exit 12 (East Lincoln Avenue) is expected to be closed.
