Obama will deliver his fifth State of the Union speech, and the first in his second term as president.
Resident Darnell Yates said improving the economy is the main point that the president needs to address. Yates said that, though he sees the economy improving, he'd like Obama to lay out a plan for job growth.
"He's making progress, but we need more jobs for the people," Yates said. "He's doing alright thus far. Give him a little time since what he was left with wasn't very good."
Christina Michael-Doyle, a high school student, said she hopes Obama speaks about education, because she is looking into college in the coming years. Michael-Doyle said the president needs to speak about where money for public schools is being spent.
"We know the money is not being distributed equally," Michael-Doyle said. "We need more scholarships for people from less-fortunate backgrounds who may not have the grades for one."
Resident Janice Mitchell said she is waiting to hear the president talk about everything from taxes to the economy to education. Mitchell said she wants to hear it all before making up her mind.
"Then I'll have something to say," Mitchell said.
