The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 10 in the area of 135 East 3rd Street
Upon arrival, Mount Vernon police officers observed a black male who appeared to have suffered several stab wounds laying on the ground, Mount Vernon Police Chief Richton Ziadie said.
The victim was transported to Jacobi Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
The victim is not being identified at this time pending notification to his next of kin.
“The men and women of the Mount Vernon Police Department are working vigorously on this investigation," Ziadie said. "We extended our heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the victims.”
No suspect information is available and Mount Vernon detectives are investigating.
