Aldo DiGiovanni, 87, Of Mount Vernon

MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. -- Aldo DiGiovanni, 87, of Mount Vernon died on Wednesday, May 6.

DiGiovanni was born on Sept. 17, 1927, in Ponza, Italy to Silverio and Civita Iodice DiGiovanni.

He graduated from the Academy of Aeronautics and served in the merchant marine for seven years. He was owner and president of Thru-way Private Taxi Company.

He is survived by his wife, Renate Reinhardt DiGiovanni; daughter Vita Spano; grandchildren Aldo and Nicole Spano; great-grandchildren Angelique Spano and Antonella Diaz-Spano; siblings Mary Iodice and her husband Ray, Augustine DiGiovanni, Sue Argiento and husband, Nicholas.

Visiting hours will be at the Westchester Funeral Home in Eastchester on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:30.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association are welcomed.
