Employees for the Mile Square Bus Company have said they are prepared to go on strike Monday as workers continue to feud with the company’s owner over wages.
Approximately 500 students are transported in Mount Vernon by Mile Square each day, including special education students attending in-district programs, according to district spokeswoman Vanessa Ridder.
“Our transportation contract requires Miles Square to pay for the temporary contract with other vendors until the strike is settled,” she said. “The district is making every effort to avoid any disruption in transportation services.”
Ridder said that the district will continue monitoring the situation as it unfolds. Parents and guardians can monitor the district website for information or can contact Miles Square directly by calling 914-375-9426.
