WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. - The Guidance Center of Westchester is looking for eligible participants for their new Center for College and Careers program, which will help teens in New Rochelle and Mount Vernon.
The Guidance Center is looking for college and career coaches who will develop strong relationships with members of the community between 16 and 21-years-old. Those coaches will meet twice a month with the participants in the program for hourlong sessions to discuss their futures.
According to officials, through the new coaching program, the CCC aims to utilize the experience of those coaches who are seasoned professionals, trades people and community leaders to “help students gain useful life skills, learn how to set and attain personal goals and develop a plan for the future.”
“We know people’s lives are busy, so we’ve structured our program to maximize impact in a small length of time that is convenient to both the young people and the coaches,” program coordinator Emily Barrera noted.
Coaches must be at least 22-years-old, and people of various backgrounds are encouraged to apply. The ideal coach “should be willing to share life and work experiences and come to all meetings with a positive attitude."
“We believe a good role model and inspiring coach can help motivated, enthusiastic young people reach their highest potential, “Barrera added. “We’re committed to being with the coaches every step of the way to ensure that they have the necessary tools to help our participants reach their highest potential.”
Those interested in learning more can contact Emily Barrera by emailing EBarrera@TheGuidanceCenter.org or by calling or texting (914) 498-0526.
