New Tappan Zee Bridge Span Reopens After Fire Breaks Out On RV
The Westchester-bound span of the new Tappan Zee Bridge has reopened after a fire involving a recreational vehicle broke out. The blaze, on an RV pulling a Honda Pilot, began just before 3:30 p.m. and was quickly contained, the New York State Thruway Authority said in a statement. No injuries were reported. "A structural engineer has evaluated the overhead gantry structure, and all lanes have re-opened to allow traffic to flow," the NYSTA said at 5 p.m. "Motorists should expect residual delays.”

Swimmer, 67, Confirmed Drowned In Long-Distance Event Between Tappan Zee, GWB
A 67-year-old long-distance swimmer who went missing Friday in the Hudson River drowned, authorities confirmed early Saturday. What initially had been a search became a "recovery effort," the Coast Guard said. The unidentified swimmer was participating in a 15.7-mile next-to-last leg of the “8 Bridges Hudson River Swim” -- which began at the Tappan Zee Bridge and was headed to the George Washington Bridge -- when a spotter saw him go under and not reappear near the foot of the "Little Red Lighthouse" at Fort Washington Park, the U.S. Coast Guard said. Three-Vehicle Crash Backs Up Traffic On New Tappan Zee Bridge
Traffic is backed up about two miles on the new Tappan Zee Bridge following a three-vehicle crash that included a tractor-trailer. The crash took place around 9:20 a.m., Wednesday, May 15, southbound in Tarrytown, between mile markers 20.4 TO 13.4, said the New York State Police. No injuries were reported, but two lanes were closed for a short time to clear the scene, causing the current back-up. New York State Thruway Authority is asking drivers to avoid the area.

Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing In Hudson River Near New TZB
A small, single-engine plane that reportedly ran out of fuel was forced to make an emergency landing in the Hudson River near the new Tappan Zee Bridge. No injuries were reported in the incident which occurred just before 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14. Divers assisted after the controlled landing close to Piermont Pier. The plane was then towed to the Tarrytown Marina. (See photo above.) It was not immediately reported if more than one person was aboard the plane. This is a developing story. Final Section Of Old Tappan Zee Bridge Being Removed
A group of government officials and project managers joined Gov. Andrew Cuomo as they watched the last sections of the old Tappan Zee Bridge being removed on Friday, May 10.
