Fresh Off First Recording, Somers Pianist Prepares For Manhattan Concert A concert pianist living in Somers is preparing for a concert in Manhattan scheduled for later this month to celebrate the release of her debut album. ShiZ’ka Arkus, who hails from Japan, started her classical piano studies at the age of four. She has worked with a variety of renowned Japanese pianists including Toshimi Sakou, Keita Kosaka, Makoto Yamahata, and Mako Okamoto, helping her to build her repertoire and develop her signature nuanced sound.
