Election 2024: Projection Made In NY State Senate Race Representing Northern Westchester
New York's 40th State Senate District voters have officially chosen their next representative.
Democrat Pete Harckham, age 64, has been projected as winning re-election for his fourth term in the New York State Senate seat representing Northern Westchester and parts of Putnam and Rockland counties, according to the state's Board of Elections.
As of just after 10 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 6, Harckham was leading his opponent, Republican Gina Arena, by 50 to 44 percent.

Northern Westchester Man Posing As Attorney Scams Thousands From Victim, Police Say
A man from the region has been accused of posing as an attorney and targeting victims, including one he allegedly scammed out of thousands of dollars.
The New York State Police have reported that an investigation has revealed that Northern Westchester County resident David Karaca, 56, of Somers, impersonated a lawyer in a virtual Alcoholics Anonymous group based in Los Angeles.
Karaca, also known as David Radcliffe and David Corazza, defrauded a victim of $7,500 for legal fees despite not being a licensed attorney, said police.

A Northern Westchester municipality was rocked by a powerful storm that downed trees, left roads completely blocked, knocked out power for thousands, and even forced schools to close.
The storm event arrived in the region on Sunday afternoon, June 23, knocking down more than 30 trees in the town of Somers and causing almost 2,300 homes to lose electricity, according to Somers Town Supervisor Robert Scorrano and the town's Highway Department.
