Voters came out in force on Tuesday, May 18, and all budgets were passed in Rockland, Westchester, and Putnam counties outside of the Carmel School District, where voters narrowly rejected the spending plan by less than 200 votes. More Than 200 Layoffs Eyed In Yonkers Public Schools Amid Budget Crunch First Yonkers city government, now the Yonkers Public Schools. More than 200 school district employees face layoffs due to a $48 million budget gap in Yonkers, officials said on Tuesday, April. 9.
