Smouldering Van Impacts Traffic On I-84 In Hudson Valley A van blaze slowed traffic on Interstate 84 at the border of Putnam and Dutchess counties, firefighters said. The fire happened on Friday, Jan. 24 just before 12:45 p.m., when a van caught on fire on Interstate 84 in Kent, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Crews were able to put out the blaze after around 30 minutes.  The incident caused traffic delays on the interstate during the response.

Blaze Destroys Vehicle In I-84 In Hudson Valley A fire completely consumed a vehicle on Interstate 84 in the Hudson Valley.  The blaze happened in Putnam County on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at around 2:15 p.m., when a vehicle caught on fire on I-84 in Kent, according to the Lake Carmel Fire Department. Fire crews rushed to the scene and were able to put the flames out.  No injuries were reported and the incident was safely brought under control, firefighters said.  "Remember to keep an eye on your vehicle’s condition to help prevent incidents like this," the department said in a social media post on Thursday, Jan. 23.

The crash, which happened on Friday, Jan. 17 around 1:45 p.m. in Putnam County, has left Route 9 closed in Garrison in the area of Old Highland Turnpike, the Putnam County Bureau of Emergency Services announced.  Police and first responders are operating in the area. Road Reopens After 'Death Investigation' In Hudson Valley (Developing) A section of road in Putnam County has reopened following a police investigation into a death. Hughson Road in the town of Carmel was closed from Stoneleigh Avenue to Cross Road as authorities investigated a death, Carmel Police announced on Thursday, Jan. 16. Carmel Police Lt. Michael Bodo said they were conducting a "death investigation" at the scene.
