One day after an 11-year-old girl was arrested for making online threats against two area schools, another student has been arrested in a separate incident. Two schools in the Hudson Valley have moved to remote learning following a social media threat. Eighth-Grader With BB Gun At School Charged In Hudson Valley
A Dutchess County middle school student has been arrested for allegedly bringing a BB gun to school despite enhanced procedures. The student was charged on Thursday, March 10 at Poughkeepsie Middle School, said Irwin Goldberg, the public information officer for the Poughkeepsie School District. "District officials are reviewing video and gathering facts via internal investigation to determine how the weapon may have gotten into the school," said Goldberg. Reports of a possible school shooting that rattled some parents in the area were unfounded and caused by a widespread power outage, officials said. On Tuesday, Dec. 14, Poughkeepsie City Schools Superintendent Eric Rosser said that a citywide outage led to an unfounded report of a shooting inside the middle building that quickly spread throughout the community.
