Jamir Thompson, age 17, of Yonkers, was sentenced to nine years to life in prison on Thursday, Sept. 2, pled guilty in July for the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Marilyn Cotto-Montanez, said District Attorney Miriam E. Rocah.

The incident took place around 8:30 a.m., Friday, July 23, at 124 Lake Ave., in Yonkers, when David Poncurak, age 43, was driving north on Morningside Avenue when he turned into the westbound lane of Lake Avenue, Yonkers Police Sergeant Frank DiDomizio said.

A teenager from Westchester has been arraigned on murder and other charges for his role in the shooting death of 18-year-old Marilyn Cotto Montanez in April.
Yonkers resident Jamir Thompson, 15, was arraigned on Wednesday, June 5 on charges that include second-degree murder, attempted murder, criminal possession of a weapon and grand larceny, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced.
Scarpino said that Thompson will be tried as a Juvenile Offender in Westchester Family Court.

ID Released, Reward Offered, For Suspected Perpetrator In Fatal Shooting Of Westchester Teen
Police have issued an arrest warrant and a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of Jamir Thompson, who is the "suspected perpetrator" in the shooting death of 18-year-old Marilyn Cotto Montanez last week in Westchester.
Montanez, of Yonkers, was shot in the head on Thursday, April 25, near the intersection of Lake and Morningside avenues in Yonkers, police said. The 1th-grader from Lincoln High School was taken to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
