There have been newly confirmed novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in 55 New York counties as the statewide total climbed to 159,937. New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced at his daily COVID-19 press briefing on Thursday, April 9 that there have been 10,621 new cases of the virus, which resulted in 7,067 deaths. Approximately 18,000 New Yorkers are still hospitalized with COVID-19. Tracking is underway for the first two Putnam County patients diagnosed for testing positive for the novel strain of the coronavirus, the Putnam County Department of Health said in a statement early Sunday evening, March 15. Under the tracking process, health officials determine who the patients had contact with recently, where they work and where they visited. A former restaurateur who owned a pair eateries in the Hudson Valley is facing charges for allegedly raping a minor. An Ulster County grand jury charged Robert Bruno, 58, of Newburgh, in a seven-count indictment for allegedly repeatedly sexually abusing at least one minor, the DA’s Office announced.
