Westchester Resident Charged With Felony DWI After Crash Splits Telephone Pole In Half
A Westchester resident was arrested for DWI following a single-vehicle crash in which a telephone pole was split in half. The crash took place in Southern Westchester late Friday, May 6 in the city of Rye. Rye Police responded to a one-car motor vehicle accident occurring on the Boston Post Road in the area of Cedar Street. The accident split a telephone pole in half and was eventually replaced by Con Edison, said the Rye Police. Storm Knocks Out Power In Hudson Valley
Thousands in the Hudson Valley are without power the morning after storms rolled through the region knocking down utility poles and downing trees. As of around 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, utility companies throughout the region were still working around the clock to make repairs on hundreds of active outages that were impacting customers. A chain-reaction crash led to a car crashing into a building and taking out a utility pole in Westchester, officials said. Shortly after 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, officers in Harrison were called to CS Realty & Relocation on Halstead Avenue, where there was a report of a crash involving two vehicles that struck the building. Thousands in the Hudson Valley are without power after a line of strong storms brought whipping winds to the region that toppled trees, brought down limbs, and downed power lines. A manhole exploded near a Westchester police station, though no injuries or property damage was reported. The incident happened across the street from New Rochelle Police Headquarters on North Avenue shortly after 6 a.m., causing a smoke condition, Capt. J. Collins Coyne said on Friday morning on Feb. 4. Don't fall for it. Officials are cautioning about a new scam making the rounds involving fraudsters posing as Con Edison employees demanding immediate payment. According to the utility company, officials have been alerted to a recent rash of fraud where scammers pose as Con Edison employees demanding immediate payment through the Cash app, Venmo, or Zelle, or risk having their power cut off.
