Former Chief Of Fire Department In Westchester Dies: 'Will Be Sorely Missed' The beloved former chief of a Westchester County fire department is being remembered for serving his community for six decades.  Joseph Marsek, the former chief of the Ardsley Fire Department, died on Monday, Nov. 4 at the age of 81, according to his obituary.  According to the department, Marsek was a Life Member who served for 60 years.  "Joe was a mentor to all of us and loved by so many. Blaze Breaks Out At Nursing Home In Westchester Firefighters raced to a nursing home in Westchester after a fire began in its attic.  The blaze broke out just before 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 20 at the Atria Woodlands assisted living facility at 1017 Saw Mill River Rd. Building Goes Up In Flames At Baseball Field In Westchester, Prompts Hazmat Response Firefighters raced to a baseball field in Westchester after an intense blaze ignited at a park building.  The blaze began on Saturday, March 30 around 8:15 p.m., when the park house by the Gould Park baseball field in Dobbs Ferry went up in flames, according to the village's fire department.  Arriving crews soon found smoke pouring from the lower extension of the building and began fighting to put it out. SUV Driver Critically Injured In Crash With Truck In Westchester An SUV driver remains in critical condition after the driver reportedly rear-ended a tractor-trailer on I-87 in Greenburgh. The crash took place around 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 26, near Exit 7A in Greenburgh, state police said. During the crash, the front windshield and roof of the SUV were ripped open, and the driver had to be extricated. by members of the Ardsley Fire Department with help from the Tarrytown Fire Department.
