Sectional Champion Briarcliff Boys Await Start Of State Playoffs

BRIARCLIFF, N.Y. -- The Briarcliff Bears basketball team has little time to breathe following its Class B Championship Game.

The Bears knocked off Putnam Valley 53-42 on Sunday. It is the program's first Section One title since 2007. Briarcliff next faces Marlboro on Wednesday at Mount Saint Mary College in Newburgh.

Junior Jack Reich, who had 21 points and 13 rebounds for Briarcliff, was named MVP. Briarcliff, 23-1, has won 22 games in a row.
