The incident took place around 8:01 p.m., Wednesday, June 17, in front Dyckman Kwik Stop at 201 Dyckman St., Inwood, said the New York City Police Department.
Police responded to a 911 call for a stabbing and found Mohamed Awadah, of New Rochelle, with a stab wound to the chest, the NYPD said.
He was rushed to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital where he was pronounced dead, they added.
Awadah was reportedly attempting to disperse a group of men who were hanging around outside of the store. The conformation with the men escalated and Awadah was stabbed.
There are no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
