Mount Pleasant police responded to the Cottage School on Wednesday following multiple reports of a resident that was making threats on the residential campus, according to a police report.
According to police, the 17-year-old - whose name has not been released as the investigation into the youth continues - “was upset and caused damage in one of the cottages and in an administration building.”
Responding officers were able to intervene, and the teenager was treated for a minor injury sustained during the incident. No other injuries were reported. The 17-year-old was arrested and charged with menacing, reckless endangerment and criminal mischief.
Wednesday’s incident wasn’t the first time police had to respond to the JCCA recently.
On Monday, Jan. 30, three teenage residents of the JCCA Edenwald Center - ages 14, 16 and 18 - were charged with felony criminal mischief after attacking a staff member and damaging his cell phone, police noted. The 14-year-old’s case was sent to Westchester County Family Court.
A week earlier, police arrested a 16-year-old resident from Edenwald and shared him with third-degree assault and criminal mischief after attacking a staff member, punching and kicking her in the face, according to the blotter.
