Driver Strikes Trooper Investigating Crash On Sprain Brook Parkway

A state trooper from the Hawthorne barracks was struck by an impaired driver while investigating a motor-vehicle crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway on Thursday at approximately 4:40 p.m. in Mount Pleasant.

The trooper sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from Westchester Medical Center.

Xhevalin Lala was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired as well as numerous vehicle and traffic law infractions. Neither Lala's age nor place of residence has been released as of Friday morning.

It was determined that Xhevalin Lala had a blood alcohol content of .06 percent.
