Thornwood ShopRite Employees Land On Cheerios' Box Cover

WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- Grocery customers may see some familiar faces on Cheerios boxes on their next visit to a ShopRite store.

Photos of 81 ShopRite associates will appear on the back of limited-edition Cheerios boxes, honoring them for their work in helping raise $1.4 million to fight hunger.

The associates earned those spots after joining thousands of other ShopRite associates in September in a friendly competition sponsored by ShopRite and General Mills.

“Fighting hunger from the heart – together we can make a difference" was this year's theme.

ShopRite associates collected donations at checkout and held events in stores to raise awareness and money to fight hunger.

The month-long fundraising effort by ShopRite associates raised $1.4 million to support regional food banks in communities served by ShopRite stores, and now ShopRite and General Mills are recognizing that dedication and hard work with a prized spot on a special-edition Cheerios box.

Each of the 40 winning ShopRite stores chose two ShopRite associates to be featured on the iconic Cheerios box.

ShopRite of Thornwood, ShopRite of Tuckahoe in Yonkers, ShopRite of Scarsdale and ShopRite of New Rochelle are among the top 40 winning stores, and selected the following store associates to be featured on 150,000 special-edition Cheerios boxes:

-- Francesca Drago of West Harrison and Ramsey Rogers II of Ossining from the Thornwood store

-- Michael Cabazas of Yonkers and Natasha Smith of Yonkers from the Tuckahoe store

-- Vicki Brown of Bronx and Lesly Guillon of Bronx from the Scarsdale store

-- Josie Long of Purdys and Vanessa Villacres of Yonkers from the New Rochelle store

Earlier this year, two associates of ShopRite's store in Croton-on-Hudson also landed their photos on Cheerios' boxes: Sandra Puglielle of Newburgh and Nora Bellamy of the Bronx.
