AMC To Sell Popcorn Outside Of Movie Theaters
AMC Theatres is gearing up to begin selling its popcorn in stores across the United States next year, according to a new report. CNBC reported on Thursday, Nov. 4, that the movie theater chain will begin selling prepackaged microwaveable popcorn in supermarkets and convenience stores. AMC plans to open 15 popcorn retail stores before 2023, the news outlet reported. The stores will offer traditional popcorn, along with gourmet flavors and candy, CNBC reported. 19: Bankruptcy Seen As Likely For AMC Theaters
The curtain may be coming down on AMC Theatres, which was forced to shut down its business due to the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and is now facing bankruptcy troubles. The cinema giant announced in mid-March that it would be closing down all its theaters for up to 12 weeks in coordination with federal guidelines and directives for social distancing in an effort to stop the spread of the virus.
