East Hampton HS Coach Accused Of Shoving Player During Game, Reports Say A Connecticut school district has suspended its high school girls basketball coach after a video of a game seemed to show him shoving a player, multiple news outlets are reporting. The Hartford Courant reported that East Hampton Schools Superintendent Paul Smith announced that Shaun Russell, who is both the athletic director and East Hampton High School girls basketball coach, has been placed on leave during an investigation into the incident. Mets Pitcher Max Scherzer Purchases $5M Mansion In Old Brookville, Report Says Max Scherzer, a pitcher for the New York Mets, has purchased a $5 million mansion on Long Island, according to a new report from The Real Deal. The news outlet said in a report published on Friday, Dec. 30, that Scherzer recently closed a deal on a home in Old Brookville. The Real Deal said Scherzer is set to pay $5 million for the five-bedroom residence, which is $400,000 less than the initial asking price for the estate. Road In Calverton To Close For Days, With Additional Closures Possible In Future A road in Calverton is set to close for several days this week due to the installation of a new fish passage. The Riverhead Town Police Department said Dam Road is set to be closed from 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3, through 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 6. The road closure is being implemented in order to install a fish passage connecting Peconic Lake with the Peconic River, police said. Police said additional closures may be necessary in the future.

Stamford Man Charged In 'Random Attack' Of Victim On Bus In Darien, Police Say A 27-year-old man was charged after police said he assaulted a victim on a bus in Darien in an apparently random attack in the fall. Rainaldo Morris, of Stamford, was arrested on Tuesday, Dec. 20, on a warrant stemming from an incident that happened in October, the Darien Police Department reported. Duo Wanted For Knifepoint Robbery Of Coram Speedway, Police Say Authorities asked the public for help identifying two men who are accused of robbing a Long Island gas station. Two men entered a Speedway in Coram at about 10:50 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, and displayed what appeared to be a knife to an employee while demanding cash, Suffolk County Crime Stoppers reported on Tuesday, Jan. 3. New Year's Eve Drawing: Top Prize-Winning Take 5 Ticket Sold At Riverhead Store A winning lottery ticket valued at more than $20,000 was sold at a Long Island store. New York Lottery reported that the first-prize winning Take 5 valued at $20,474 from the drawing on New Year's Eve was sold at New Roanoke Plaza Liquors LLC in Riverhead. Alert Issued For Missing Stamford Man After SUV Found Unoccupied On I-95 Police issued an alert about a missing Stamford man who hasn't been seen in days. Errol Whyte, age 63, was last seen leaving Bridgeport at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 29, the Stamford Police Department reported. On Friday, Dec. 30, Whyte's 2002 Ford Explorer was found unoccupied on I-95 southbound between Exits 18 and 17 near the Saugatuck Bridge, police said. His keys, cellphones, and wallet were found in the vehicle, but his wallet didn't contain his driver's license and cash, authorities reported.
