Rockland County resident Joseph Janulewicz, age 65, of West Nyack, pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Rockland County Court on Wednesday, Nov. 22, in the death of Brian Romney. Alert Issued For Scammers Posing As Detectives In Hudson Valley Authorities in the Hudson Valley are alerting residents about phone scams where suspects impersonate detectives. The Rockland County Sheriff’s Office said it has received reports of scammers calling potential victims and claiming to be a detective with the sheriff's office. The suspects reportedly tell the victims they were served a subpoena to appear as a witness in Rockland County Court, and they didn't appear. They then say the victim is in contempt of court, with a warrant being issued, and the victim can pay the court a civil penalty instead of undergoing criminal proceedings.  …

Gerard O’Sullivan, age 61, of New City, was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison for the murder of Noe Hamer, age 42, who was shot and killed in Rockland County on Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at the McGowan’s Funeral Home in Haverstraw after he was told he was fired.
