A stretch of I-95 in Connecticut has now fully reopened three days after a fire involving a tanker with 8,500 gallons of gas days earlier. Northbound lanes on the stretch in Norwalk reopened Saturday evening, May 4. Lanes opened on the southbound side reopened late Sunday morning, May 5, earlier than had been expected. The first image above was taken around 11 a.m. Sunday. Woman Hospitalized After Car Crashes Off Merritt Parkway A woman was hospitalized after her car crashed off the Merritt Parkway in Fairfield County overnight. The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 in Norwalk. When firefighters arrived with hospital paramedics and state police, the car, a Hyundai sedan, was found on its side, in a foot of water, between the parkway exit 40A ramp and the 1 Glover Avenue Condos, according to the Norwalk Fire Department. Fire Displaces New Canaan Family A two-alarm fire left a New Canaan home with extensive damage, officials said. Fire crews were dispatched to a Strawberry Hill Road home shortly before 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24, where there was a report of a fire that spread from the chimney to the surrounding walls and an attic space, Fire Marshal Fred Baker said. “The fire appears to have been caused by a breach in the chimney system, allowing hot embers to escape and ignite the structural members,” he said.
