In Dutchess County, the city of Beacon was named as having the best “Main Street” shopping district in New York by the financial blog Cheapism. Woman Killed Crossing Busy Hudson Valley Roadway, Police Say A woman was killed after she was struck by a Jeep Wrangler crossing a busy roadway. The incident took place around 3:15 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 1 in Dutchess County in the City of Beacon. The woman was crossing Main Street and Teller Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle, said Detective Sergeant Jason Johnson, of the City of Beacon Police. The woman was treated on the scene by the City of Beacon Fire Department and transported to St. Luke’s Hospital by Mobile Life.  She was later transferred to Westchester Medical Center where she died from her injuries, Johnson s…

15 Area Residents Charged With DWI In State Police Stops New York State Police troopers busted more than a dozen Hudson Valley motorists for allegedly driving while drunk on area roadways. Among those charged include:  Westchester County On Saturday, Sept., 28, State Police from Brewster arrested Jason M. Curnen, 26, of Bedford, for Aggravated DWI. He was traveling on I-684 in the town of Southeast, when he was stopped for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law.
