An area family got an unexpected visitor when a bobcat was caught on camera making the rounds. The bobcat was captured slinking through the backyard of the Putnam County home on Long Pond Road in Mahopac at approximately 7 p.m. on Friday, April 17, before trotting off into a neighbor’s yard. Car Crashes Into Stone Wall In Mahopac
Traffic was backed up on Long Pond Road in Mahopac due to a car crashing into a stone wall, according to the Mahopac Fire Department. The incident occurred around 4 p.m. Thursday when the driver swerved, crossed the road and hit the stone wall, ripping off a door of the vehicle, officials said. The driver received minor injuries and was not transported to the hospital. Multiple departments responded to the crash including Mahopac Fire and EMS, multiple units from Carmel Police, and paramedics from EMStar.

Truck Driver Hospitalized After Rollover Crash In Mahopac
The driver of a dump truck was hospitalized after a rollover crash that brought down a pole and power lines in Mahopac on Wednesday. The still-energized 13,000-volt wires above the wreck on Long Pond Road near Pleasant Road prevented first-responders from approaching or removing the loan driver from the truck, said Tom Beatty of the Mahopac Volunteer Fire Department. By order of MVFD Chief Bill Nikisher, the road was closed to all traffic by Carmel Police, MVFD personnel and with the assistance of MFVFD Chief Brian Sacher.
